In the heart of East Orlando, where need and hope often intersect, a bold and beautiful vision is rising—The Phileo House for Unsheltered Women. Founded by Dr. Maribel Avilés, a woman who spent more than 30 years caring for patients as a medical professional, The Phileo House is a Christ-centered response to one of Orlando’s most pressing needs: safe, sustainable housing for women facing homelessness.
But this is more than a shelter. It’s a home of restoration.
Fueled by the love of Christ and built on the foundation of dignity and discipleship, The Phileo House exists to empower women through transitional support, spiritual growth, and self-sustaining programs. Their dream is to launch their first eco-green, acre-based home in East Orlando—a space where unsheltered women can begin again, surrounded by nature, nurture, and the presence of God.
To bring this vision to life, The Phileo House has launched their “One Block at a Time” Campaign—an initiative to raise $50,000 toward the down payment on their first home.
But each “block” represents more than just a financial milestone. It symbolizes a step toward restoration, a piece of sacred ground reclaimed for healing, and a tangible expression of hope. Every block laid is a testament to what’s possible when faith meets action, and when a community comes together with one heart and one mission.
